Cosa sono le curve di Fletcher-Munson?
Il nostro orecchio non percepisce tutte le frequenze con la stessa sensibilità: alcune sembrano molto più forti di altre a parità di ampiezza fisica. Le curve di Fletcher-Munson (o isofoniche) descrivono questo: ogni linea rappresenta i punti percepiti come ugualmente forti, espressi in phon. Per la stessa sensazione di volume a 1000 Hz e a 30 Hz, l'onda a 30 Hz deve essere molto più potente.
What are the Fletcher-Munson curves?
Our ear does not perceive all frequencies with equal sensitivity: some sound much louder than others at the same physical amplitude. The Fletcher-Munson curves (equal-loudness contours) describe this: each line represents points perceived as equally loud, expressed in phons. For the same loudness at 1000 Hz and 30 Hz, the 30 Hz wave needs to be much more powerful.
