Un LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) è un oscillatore che lavora a frequenze molto basse, di solito sotto i 20 Hz, quindi non udibili. Non produce suono, ma modula automaticamente un parametro di un altro dispositivo: il volume (tremolo), la frequenza di un oscillatore (vibrato), il cutoff di un filtro (auto-wah) e così via.
