Cos'è la distorsione?
La distorsione è una deformazione della forma d'onda dovuta al passaggio attraverso particolari circuiti analogici o trattamenti digitali. Restituisce un suono più complesso e graffiante. In origine considerata un errore, è diventata fin dagli anni '40 una scelta creativa: blues e rock l'hanno trasformata da difetto in firma sonora. A seconda di come viene generata si parla di overdrive, fuzz, bit crush, resampling o waveshaping, ciascuno con un carattere timbrico riconoscibile.
What is distortion?
Distortion is a deformation of the waveform caused by the signal flowing through specific analog circuits or digital treatments. It produces a sound that is more complex and potentially more aggressive sounding. Originally seen as an error, since the 1940s it has become a creative choice. Blues and rock turned it from a defect into a signature sound. We can classify types of distortion, each with its own recognizable character, by the the creation method, such as overdrive, fuzz, bit crush, resampling, or waveshaping.
